Maitland - Muswelbrook (Return)

Experience the romance of rail travel on a day trip from Maitland to Muswellbrook and return riding The Picnic Train on Saturday, 21st August 2021.

 

Steam locomotive 5917 will haul the train in both directions as it steams through the hunter valley

 

Sit back and enjoy the stunning picture views of the winter countryside in our heated carriages while enjoying a barista-made coffee or champagne from our buffet car.

 

You’ll have plenty of time for a relaxing lunch at a variety of cafés and pubs in Muswellbrook before boarding for the return journey.

Private Compartment — $440 per group

Enjoy the benefit of an entire booth to yourselves — great for families and social groups!

One booking is good for up to a maximum of eight (8) people (max 6 adults advised).

 

Family of Four — $340

This option is suitable for a maximum of four people and includes two window seats in a spacious area with table.

 

First Class Duo — $240 for two people

First Class seating for two people. Two Window seats in a spacious area with table.

Buffet Car:

A buffet car will return to The Picnic Train serving barista-made coffee, tea, soft drinks, beer, wine and light snacks. Customers are welcome to bring along picnic lunches, snacks and drinks.

 

BYO alcohol is allowed, however, large eskys will not be permitted

 

Toilets:

Toilets are available in all carriages and will be locked off while in metropolitan areas.

 

Mobile Phones:

There are no charging points on the heritage equipment. It is recommended that you bring an external battery charger for your mobile devices.

Condition of travel:

  • It is advised to check-in everyone in your group using the QR code provided with the Service NSW app

  • Passengers are asked to remain in their allocated seats as far as practical

  • COVID-19 restrictions may be implemented on the day depending on current alert level

  • Passengers are required to follow all instructions from their carriage attendant
