Tables are only available in our 'S' and 'N' Carriage types. Lounges have a limited number of small portable tables available.
FOUR SEATER BOOTH
Comfortable seating in a 'N' type carriages. 2 seats on either side of a table - total of two or four per booking.
The carriage has windows that open.
PRIVATE COMPARTMENT
Comfortable seating in a 'S' type carriage compartment. Up to 4 seats on either side of a table. One booking is good for up to a maximum of eight (8) adults, including children.

FIRST CLASS DUO
Window seating for two people in a 'N' type carriage on either side of a table.
The carriage has windows that open.
RED LOUNGE
Group of four seating
Comfortable four seats together in an air-conditioned lounge car. The carriage is fitted with a bar.

High Tea Experience
Step aboard and make the journey just as memorable as the destination with a traditional High Tea served as you travel through the countryside aboard the Picnic Train.
As the train settles into its rhythm, our dedicated onboard team prepares and serves a tempting selection of savoury and sweet treats, freshly prepared sandwiches, sweet treats and freshly baked scones with jam and cream.
Your High Tea begins during the outward journey, giving you plenty of time to relax, enjoy a cup of tea and watch the scenery roll past your window. After time exploring the destination, the experience continues on the return journey with a delicious fruit, meat and cheese platter, accompanied by afternoon refreshments. Tea and Coffee is included all day in your fare, with soft drinks and alcoholic beverages available for purchase.
And there is something particularly special about the experience — your food is prepared aboard the train, bringing the sights, sounds and aromas of a classic railway dining experience to life. Fresh scones have even been prepared onboard in the dining car, adding an authentic touch you simply can't get at a conventional High Tea.
High Tea guests can choose between our two dedicated dining cars — the Blue Dining Car and Silver Dining Car. Both are climate controlled, providing a comfortable setting to enjoy your High Tea regardless of the weather. Each carriages includes community seating, with single and double bookings at a shared table of 4.
Simply select your preferred dining car when making your booking and settle in for a truly memorable day of rail travel, fine food and old-fashioned hospitality.
The destination may change from journey to journey, but the experience remains the same: sit back, raise your teacup and let the Picnic Train take you there.

This ex NSWGR Sleeping Car has been lovingly restored by Picnic Train volunteers and is now available for your Premium Experience Package.
The Carriage now has Air Conditioning installed and has opening windows (to get that perfect Instagram shot!) and a warm welcoming lounge and bar area to enjoy your journey from.
Food and drinks are available from the bar throughout the entire journey
Hang out in the bar or sit down on the comfortable seats to enjoy the company of your fellow travellers and friends.
Your booking will also include access to the sleeping compartments which will be set up in day mode and includes two seats and a table.
The carriage also has a private bathroom and panoramic doors to stand at and watch the countryside go by!
