Step back in time and experience the golden age of rail travel on a spectacular steam-hauled day adventure from Canberra to Goulburn and return.

Your journey begins behind the magnificent steam locomotive R766, as the train departs Canberra and winds its way through the breathtaking scenery of the Molonglo Gorge — a breathtaking stretch of railway where rugged landscapes, sweeping curves and historic rail infrastructure combine to create an unforgettable ride. Settle into your heritage carriage, open the window, and enjoy the sights, sounds and unmistakable atmosphere that only a working steam locomotive can provide.

Arriving in historic Goulburn, passengers will have several relaxed hours to explore Australia’s first inland city at their own pace. Visit the local railway museum and dive into the region’s rich rail heritage, wander the charming streets and cafés, or simply head to a classic country pub for lunch and a refreshing drink.

In the afternoon, your journey continues as our heritage diesel locomotives take charge for the return trip, offering a contrasting chapter of railway history while you sit back, unwind, and reflect on a day filled with nostalgia, scenery and classic country hospitality.

A full day of heritage rail travel, stunning landscapes, and country charm — all in one unforgettable experience.

All aboard for a journey where history comes alive.
