Join us for this unique experience and enjoy a 3 course dinner on one of our restored heritage dining carriages on a return 3 hour steam hauled journey from Canberra to Bungendore and back.
​
Your journey starts at Canberra railway station where you are welcomed on board our dining carriage with a glass of bubbles and treated to a welcome platter of nibbles to settle in.
Once the train starts steaming towards Bungendore you can take in the breath-taking views of the valley whilst you are served your entrée.
On arrival at Bungendore you will be able to enjoy your main course as the sun sets over the horizon before the train takes off back to Canberra.
Dessert will be served on the return journey back to Canberra.

Menu
On Arrival:

"Bubbles and Nibblies"
A glass of bubbles upon arrival with a share platter of nibblies upon embarkation.
Entree:
​
"Glorious Roasted Pumpkin Soup"
Proper pumpkin soup made from roasted chunks of pumpkin, sweet and rich, served with a topping of nutmeg and sour cream, complimented by crusty bread rolls fresh from the oven with salty butter
Main:

"Steam Locomotive Driver's Roast"
Roast Beef basted with thyme and garlic, served with potato dauphinoise and steamed vegetables.

(Vegetarian option will include more potato dauphinoise)
Dessert:
​
"Chocolate Mud Cake"
Classic rich chocolate mud cake with a generous dollop of thickened cream.

NOTE: The locomotive rostered for each service cannot be guaranteed and is subject to change due to operational reasons with or without notice. Your ticket is for the journey and is not dependent on the locomotive advertised.

Train departure and arrival times are subject to change at any time. Should anything change on the day the onboard crew will keep you informed.
Buffet Car:
Drinks will be available for purchase in the Dining car / bar.
The Picnic Train is a licensed venue and will be offering alcoholic beverages for sale in the Dining car.

Toilets are available in most carriages. These will be locked while in metropolitan areas and in platforms.
Mobile Phones:
There are no charging points on the heritage carriages. It is recommended that you bring an external battery charger for your mobile devices.
