Join us for this unique experience and enjoy a Chrismas Lunch on one of our restored heritage carriages on a return journey from Tempe or Sutherland to Bombo and return.

Your journey starts at Tempe or Sutherland where you are welcomed on board our train with a glass of bubbles to settle in.
Once the train departs Sutherland ​
Please Note: You are unable to leave the train at Bombo.

First Class Lunch - Dining Car
​
Early Lunch Sitting - 11:00am - 1:15pm
Boarding into our air conditioned dining car at Tempe or Sutherland you are treated to glass of bubbles on arrival

Late Lunch Sitting - 1:30pm - 4:00pm
Boarding into our air conditioned lounge car at Tempe or Sutherland you are treated to a glass of bubbles and grazing table to settle in whilst you take in the views of the Royal National park as we make our way south to Bombo.
Heritage Lunch - Open window carriage

Boarding into our restored open air 'FS' type carriage you are shown to your private compartment and treated to a glass of bubbles to settle in.

Please Note: All fares are for same-day return travel.
First Class Lunch for 1 - Air conditioned Lounge & Dining car - $210
Travel in our air-conditioned dining & lounge car where you have the option of a early or late lunch sitting.

​​Heritage Lunch for 2 or 4 - $400 / $750
Enjoy your lunch experience in one of our open window heritage carriage's sitting in a shared compartment of 4. (Private compartment for 2 supplement available)

On Arrival:

"Bubbles and Nibblies"
A glass of bubbles upon arrival with a share platter of nibblies upon embarkation.
Entree:
​
"Glorious Roasted Pumpkin Soup"
Proper pumpkin soup made from roasted chunks of pumpkin, sweet and rich, served with a topping of nutmeg and sour cream, complimented by crusty bread rolls fresh from the oven with salty butter
Main:
​
"Steam Locomotive Driver's Roast"
Roast Beef basted with thyme and garlic, served with potato dauphinoise, steamed greens and honey carrots.
Choice of protein:
Roast beef and rich gravy,
Fried salmon steaks and béchamel parsley sauce or
Maple glazed Tofu
Dessert:

"Classic Sticky Date"
Classic sticky date pudding served with butterscotch sauce, vanilla ice cream and a generous dollop of thickened cream.

"Heavenly Chia Pudding"
Creamy coconut chia pudding with agave syrup, with all the goodness of superfoods, topped with mixed berries and crispy curls of roasted coconut.

Alcohol and drinks are able to be purchased from the bar throughout the
duration of the journey

NOTE: The locomotive rostered for each service cannot be guaranteed and is subject to change due to operational reasons with or without notice. Your ticket is for the journey and is not dependent on the locomotive advertised.
*Indicative times only. Please arrive at least 20 minutes prior to departure. An update email will be sent to the ticket booking a couple of days prior to the event with final details. Train departure and arrival times are subject to change at any time. Should anything change on the day the onboard crew will keep you informed.
Buffet Car:
Drinks will be available for purchase in the buffet car / bar.

The Picnic Train is a licensed venue. We have obligations under our Plan of Management to ensure the safety of passengers. Whilst the Plan of Management and the liquor license act are available should anyone wish to review, some important conditions are
* Alcohol will not be sold to persons under 18 and our team is trained to request proof of age.
* There are maximum limits in place, our team is trained to deny serving alcohol where appropriate.
* No Alcohol is to be taken or consumed off the train.
The Picnic Train is a licensed venue and will be offering alcoholic beverages for sale in the Buffer car. No BYO

Toilets:
Toilets are available in most carriages. These will be locked while in metropolitan areas and in platforms.
Mobile Phones:
There are no charging points on the heritage carriages. It is recommended that you bring an external battery charger for your mobile devices.
