Become a Junior Conductor for the day
At The Picnic Train, we know children love travelling on our trains.
Now, we’re offering a once-in-a-lifetime chance for six lucky winners to go one step further and take charge of a real-life Picnic Train for a trip!
Our lucky winners will have the chance to work alongside our team of carriage attendants & train manager as a “junior conductor” for the day – that means they’ll be travelling in the train, greeting customers, and even blowing the whistle and locking the doors.
During the October Long Weekend, the six winners will get to experience this money can't buy prize, conducting one of our Steam Hauled Picnic Trains!
To apply to become a junior conductor, children aged between four and 12 (via their parents or guardians) are invited to share a video, of up to 30 seconds, on our Social Media outlets tagging The Picnic Train. Make sure you mention which Dungog Picnic Train journey you are booked on!
Within the video, they’ll need to tell us exactly what they love most about trains, where they last went on a train, and why they think they should be a conductor for the day.

Once applications close on Wednesday 27 th September, entries will be reviewed by our panel of expert judges who will choo-choo-choose the winners !
What's the Prize
Under the guidance of the Picnic Train team, one Child will be chosen per Dungog Picnic Train journey along with their parents or guardians will get to experience what it’s really like be a part of the Picnic Train Team that makes the train run.
From seeing inside the Steam Locomotives's cab and checking tickets, to greeting customers and even making blowing the whistle to depart the train, it will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for budding train fans. Not to mention receiving their own whistle, high-viz vest, and Picnic Train Hat to ensure their journey as a conductor runs smoothly.

The winners must already be booked on a Dungog Picnic Train journey and one child per trip will recieve the prize.
The prize is non-transferrable, and no cash alternative will be offered. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the Promoter reserves the right (a) to substitute an alternative prize of equivalent or greater value and (b) in exceptional circumstances to amend or foreclose the promotion without notice. No correspondence will be entered into.

All competition entries and any accompanying material submitted to The Picnic Train will become the property of The Picnic Train on receipt and will not be returned. By submitting an entry video of your child to win the Junior Conductor competition on either Facebook, Instagram, you automatically give consent for your video to be used by The Picnic Train for any marketing purposes.
You agree that The Picnic Train may make your entry and accompanying materials available on its website picnictrain.com.au and any other social media platform in connection with any publicity of the competition.
You agree to grant The Picnic Train a non-exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable licence, for the full period of any intellectual property rights, in the competition entry and any accompanying materials, to use, display, publish, transmit, copy, edit, alter, store, re-format and sub-licence the competition entry and any accompanying materials for such purposes.
Where your entry and accompanying materials contain your personal data, or the personal data of others, your/their consent to use this information can be withdrawn at any time by emailing info@picnictrain.com.au
Limitation of liability
Insofar as is permitted by law, The Picnic Train, its agents, and distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of The Picnic Train, its agents and/or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.
