Saturday 10th August 2024
Ride behind R766 on a journey through the Hunter Valley from Maitland to Singleton, plus Camberwell ballon loop (return) on Saturday, 10th August 2024
You have a choice of a morning or afternoon trip and the choice of alighting at Singleton for a short stay in town or staying on the train while it is turned at Camberwell baloon loop, a track that usually only sees coal trains!
Ex-Victorian Railways steam locomotive R766 has entered service as a standard-gauge locomotive, having been converted from the broad-gauge used throughout Victoria at the time the locomotive was built in the 1950s. R766 is the first such locomotive to be gauge-converted, making it a very unique steam locomotive indeed!
